This way, once you are out of the hospital and sent home, you will know what to do and what to expect over the following days and weeks. Have Pain Medication On Hand
It is important to make sure that you are going to be able to successfully keep yourself out of pain. To do that, you will want to already have some pain medication on hand at home. This way, when you are released from the hospital, you will already have pain medication waiting for you. You might not need any the first hour or so that you are home, but the pain medication that you were given at the hospital will soon wear off and you want to be ready for that.
Make Sure You Have Someone At The House With You
You will need to have an adult staying with you for the first day or two after coming home from the hospital. This way, should you need help changing your bandages, getting something to drink or eat, or simply getting help getting out of bed so you can go to the bathroom, you will have someone there. You do not want to put yourself under too much strain and you certainly do not want to find yourself in the middle of a medical emergency without anyone there to assist you. If no one is able to stay with you the entire time, you can see if a few friends or family can take shifts.

Make sure that you have your pain medication and extra gauze and bandages nearby. Make sure that there will be someone that can remain home with you for the first couple of days after the surgery.
